U.S. Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., went on a tour of The Dalles Dam Saturday to see a new navigation lock gate and discuss power generation and environmental issues with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers administrators. “I think I last took a tour here when I was in the sixth grade at Dry Hollow (Elementary),” said Walden, who spent part of his childhood in Wasco County and now resides in Hood River.
Rep. Greg Walden (R-Hood River), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, today called for action to expand broadband internet access in rural Oregon. During a hearing of the Energy and Commerce Committee, Walden stressed the importance of prioritizing unserved areas in Oregon and throughout the country when expanding broadband internet infrastructure.

Walden’s committee passed two bills to authorize the Brownfields Program and better manage nuclear waste, both of which Walden says are especially important in Oregon. During Committee discussion, Walden touted Oregon as being at the forefront of brownfields cleanup and redevelopment, and cited the Department of Energy’s Hanford site as showing the clear need for improvements to nuclear waste disposal programs.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee, chaired by Rep. Greg Walden (R-Hood River), moved forward eleven bills to advance the nation’s energy infrastructure and improve energy efficiency. This comes as Walden continues his efforts to streamline the regulatory process and expand hydropower in Oregon.
Continuing to push for innovative solutions to reduce traffic fatalities in Oregon, Rep. Greg Walden (R-Hood River) today took to a busy highway in a self-driving car. The vehicle -- Audi’s A7 concept car -- is equipped with self-driving technology, which Walden calls a 21st century solution to improve the safety of America’s roads.
