Greg Walden Announces Large Discretionary Grant for Grant County Regional Airport
Today, Representative Greg Walden (R-Hood River) announced that the Department of Transportation (DOT) will award a discretionary grant totaling $950,000 to the Grant County Regional Airport in John Day.
The funding will help pay for the reconstruction of the airport’s apron, which is where an aircraft parks, unloads, loads, refuels, and boards. This grant is a part of the FAA’s FY2019 Airport Improvement Program (AIP) - something Walden has long supported.
“This large discretionary grant is great news for Grant County and for the region at large,” said Walden. “Improving the airport’s infrastructure will help provide economic opportunity by improving the flow of goods to the region while also aiding federal and state agencies with wildfire suppression efforts. I am grateful to Secretary Chao for awarding this grant to the airport and for her continued support of transportation projects in Oregon.”
